Metro in Jaipur JMRC- Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation

The phase II of Jaipur Metro will get Central assistance, Union minister for urban development Kamal Nath announced here on Thursday. The minister was speaking after laying the foundation stone for phase 1 of the project connecting Mansarovar to Chandpole , covering a distance of 9.25 km. 


"Requests made by friends are orders for me. There can't be any argument as to whether the nod for the assistance is there or not. It is already granted. What we will have to think now is how to go about it. The foundation stone for the second phase of the project will also be laid this year," said Kamal Nath. 




Estimated to cost nearly Rs 1,250 crore for phase I, the state government is directly spending Rs 600 crore while the remaining sum is being paid by various other wings of the state urban development and housing department. The phase I is expected to be completed by June 30, 2013. Phase II is expected to cost Rs 7,000 crore, which will connect Ambabari to Sitapura over a distance of 24 km. However, the state government is yet to decide whether to take up the project in PPP mode or not.
