The total project envisaged in phases is estimated at Rs 16,000 crore, to be funded in a 50:50 ratio by the Centre and Uttar Pradesh on the lines of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and as suggested by the Union urban development ministry. DMRC is the consultant for the project and had prepared the Detailed Project Report (DPR). Both the joint venture partners would infuse 20 per cent each as equity in the project, while the rest would be raised through debt.
मेट्रो को दौडऩे में करीब पांच वर्ष लग सकता है और फिर शहरवासियों को जाम से निजात मिल सकेगी। चारबाग से लेकर इंदिरानगर तक दौडऩे वाले कई हजार वाहन भी सड़कों से कम हो जाएंगे। हालांकि मेट्रो पर चढऩे से पहले शहरवासियों को इसके लिए नरक भोगना होगा, क्योंकि केडी सिंह बाबू स्टेडियम से लेकर मवैया तक सड़क की खुदाई की जाएगी, क्योंकि तीन किलोमीटर में मेट्रो भूमिगत रास्तों से होकर गुजरेगी और स्वाभाविक है कि सड़क की खुदाई होने से शहर की लाइफ लाइन प्रभावित रहेगी। कोशिश होगी कि मेट्रो को पांच साल में सड़क पर उतार दिया जाए। मेट्रो रूट पर काम चलने के वक्त वैकल्पिक रास्ते बनाए जाएंगे, ताकि आवागमन में दिक्कत न हो, लेकिन मानकर चलिए कि पांच साल में लोगों को हजरतगंज जाने के लिए इतनी मुश्किलों का सामना करना पड़ेगा जिसके बारे में उन्होंने सोचा नहीं हैं। हनुमान संतु से उतरने के बाद ही मेट्रो की खुदाई शुरू हो जाएंगी। शहर में अभी ही सुबह 10 से 12 और शाम को 5 से 7 बजे तक जाम की स्थिति रहती है मेट्रों की खुदाई इस जाम की समस्या को बढ़ा देंगी। प्रशासन अभी तो वैकल्पिक रास्तों की बात कर रहा है लेकिन वह वैकल्पिक रास्तों का इंतजाम नहीं कर पाएंगा। क्योंकि एक तरफ स्टेडियम है और दूसरी तरफ पार्क। अब प्रशासन पार्क की बलि चढ़ाए बगैर वैकल्पिक रास्ता बनाने से रहा। लेकिन यह तय है कि पांच साल तक मेट्रो के निर्माण के लिए लोगों को भारी दिक्कतों का सामना करना पड़ेगा। हां यह अलग बात है कि राजधानी में सार्वजनिक परिवहन सेवा के लिए चल रही कसरत के बीच मेट्रो दौड़ में आगे रही। अखिलेश सरकार में मेट्रो और बस रैपिड ट्रांसपोर्ट सिस्टम को लेकर मतभेद थे लेकिन शहर की सड़कों के चौड़ाई को देखते हुए बस रैपिड ट्रांसपोर्ट सिस्टम को उपयुक्त नहीं पाया गया था। इस कारण मेट्रो को हरी झंडी दिखा दी गई थी।
